I was born and lived my early childhood in this same room. It was a part of a large stone house where my uncle Abdallah Mahmoud Abu Latifa (the Mukhtar of Sar'a) lived with his two brothers, my father Ali and my uncle Mohammed and their families up till 1948. The Israelis used the house as a police post till 1967 because of its strategic location controlling the entrance to Jerusalem Bab Al-Wad and the Artuf railway going to Gaza. After 1967 and the new borders of occupation becoming at the Jordan River now, the Israelis demolished the house but kept this room and made alterations to make the room look old and Biblical in appearance. They changed its entrance to the north and made it a tourist place, probably claiming now that this room was the birthplace of Samson their mythical hero and not Fathi Abdallah Abu Latifa.
